Niamh Sutton is an Australian communications and journalism  professional experience across broadcast media, health communications, and regional news.

She has completed internships with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, contributing to content production and public-facing communications.

Sutton has worked as a casual media assistant in regional Victoria, supporting musicians and local news coverage, and participated in Zoos Victoria’s Youth Engagement Conference, where she collaborated with young audiences to analyse media consumption habits and inform organisational media strategy.

 

Her experience spans digital communications, public affairs support, and science-based storytelling, reflecting a focus on translating complex information for public audiences.

In Decmber 2024, Sutton joined the Maryborough District Advertiser. 

The paper covers a wide range of hyper local topics including local human interest, local angles to wider issues, busienss, farming, sport and all levels of government.

The Addy circulates throughout the Central Goldfields Shire and surrounding shires of Pyrenees, Hepburn, Mt Alexander, Northern Grampians and Loddon shires. These include,, the towns of Amphitheatre, Avoca, Bealiba, Carisbrook, Clunes, Dunolly, Lexton, Maldon, Maryborough, Moonambel, Newstead, Redbank and Talbot.

Sutton's notable coverage includes the ongoing plight of Maryborough RDA, The Nest facility closure, and notably, Maryborough VicRoads.

Alongside work, Sutton has had brief stints on radio, and presented live and social media  videos.

Working with The Addy ensures deep connection with the Central Goldfields community, understanding their unique stories, and appreciate the challenges and opportunities that define life in regional areas. 

Sutton can use OISNT tools​ and speak German and Polish.
